Wheeler High School’s homecoming festivities, including a Friday evening parade and football game against Boone Grove, have been canceled because of an alleged threat made at the school, according to an announcement from Union Township School Corporation Superintendent Leigh Barnes.

The events, including a dance Saturday, will be rescheduled, according to the announcement.

“We want to again reassure our community that the Porter County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that there is no credible threat at this time,” Barnes said in the statement.

Details on the alleged threat were not immediately available.
