DANVILLE — Danville Area Superintendent Molly Nied is concerned about students walking across Route 11 to the new Wawa and McDonald’s, but Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials said a pedestrian crossing is necessary.

In a message to district families Thursday, Nied said she had been advocating for student safety and against a crosswalk being placed across Route 11, from State Hospital Drive to the businesses.
