COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gwenn Davis sat in the courtroom Friday as the man accused in her grandson’s death pleaded not guilty to murder charges in a downtown Columbus shooting in June.
“I miss my grandson. There is not a day or moment that goes by I don't think about him,” Davis said.
Her grandson, 18-year-old Jusiah Mason, was reportedly with friends and dozens of others in the early morning hours of June 14 when shots rang out.
Mason was killed and seven others, who were all teenagers, were injured, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
After the shooting, Columbus police said 19-year-old Mohamed Fofana boarded a flight to Atlanta, where he lives, and purchased a plane ticket to Ethiopia. Fofana did not board the flight and instead turned himself in to Columbus police.
