EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The high school football season is underway.

In this week's edition of the Friday Night Blitz, 12 Sports' Sam Knox and Morgan Weaver will bring you high school football scores, highlights and more from around Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, including the Game of the Week: East Providence vs. Westerly.

Providence Journal sportswriter Eric Rueb will also break down the night's games and highlighted the state's top talent.

12 Sports is once again recognizing high school football players through its returning segment Player of the Week. Voting was open Monday through Wednesday, and fans selected East Providence QB Jacob Duarte as this season's first winner. Be sure to check back for next week's nominees.
