MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Memphis Mayor Paul Young didn't ask for the National Guard but said they could help with the beautification of the city.
In his weekly newsletter, Young said he had a virtual meeting with Deputy Mayor Lindsey Appiah and Police Chief Pamela Smith of Washington, D.C., to learn directly from their recent experience with the National Guard and their partnerships with federal law enforcement.
Young said in D.C., the work was framed around law enforcement, beautification, and homelessness services.
