A 49-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 34-year-old man at a Canberra caravan park.

The two men were allegedly involved in an incident at the Southside Village Caravan Park in Symonston on Monday afternoon.

Police said the 49-year-old man called his local police station and told officers the 34-year-old man was lying unconscious at his front door after an altercation.

Police arrived at the caravan park and gave the man CPR while they waited for paramedics to arrive.

The 34-year-old man was taken to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition, where he died yesterday.

The 49-year-old was initially charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Following the man's death, police upgraded the charge to murder.
