MCLEAN COUNTY ( 25News Now ) - McLean County students between grades 3 through 12 will have access to mental health screenings, but they will have to wait a couple years.

Back in July, the Illinois State Board of Education and a children’s behavioral health team within Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s office were ordered through a new law (Senate Bill 1560) to provide guidelines on how school districts should conduct mental health screenings for students.

McLean County Regional Office of Education #17 Superintendent Mark Jontry said ISBE is required to send guidance on incoming mental health screenings for schools in September 2026.
