NORMAL ( 25News Now ) - A crash involving an Oakdale Elementary School bus and a car in Normal sent seven students to the hospital late Friday afternoon.

That’s according to an update from Unit 5 spokesperson Dayna Brown, who said six kids were initially injured in the crash. Later came the report of a seventh child taken to the hospital.

A Facebook post from the Normal Fire Department stated that the crash happened just after 3 p.m. at Normal and Marian avenues.

Brown said at least 40 students were on the bus during the crash. She said six ambulances were called to the scene and took the students with minor injuries to two local hospitals.

Brown clarified that she was told authorities ticketed the driver of the car.
