SWANNANOA, N.C. — Almost a year later, there is still so much devastation from Hurricane Helene – but there is also plenty of hope. Cat lovers, we’ve got a story for you about a cat who may just have nine lives.

A kitten's rescue was an unexpected and much needed sign of hope amid total devastation, and now a year later, there is a much-needed happy update.

"Her name is Stormy because we think she was born during Helene," explained Laurel Waller, a Lowe’s spokesperson who was in Swannanoa near Asheville days after Helene hit.

She working with volunteers from Samaritan’s Purse and Lowe’s when one of the volunteers discovered a newborn kitten.
