First they came after Revolution Wind, and now an offshore wind project even closer to home could also be in trouble.

As threatened earlier this month , the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) on Thursday moved to vacate the previously approved construction and operations plan (COP) for SouthCoast Wind’s 2,400 MW offshore wind project off the coast of Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

BOEM approved SouthCoast’s COP during the waning days of the Biden administration on Jan. 17, but Donald Trump — who has decidedly different ideas about wind energy — began his second term three days later.

Now under a new administration, BOEM filed a motion in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 18 to revoke SouthCoast’s permit.
