One driver is dead, and another is hospitalized following a head-on collision that closed Route 111 for several hours in Windham, New Hampshire, late Friday night.

The Windham Fire Department says it responded after the Derry Fire Department communications center received a call around 10:20 p.m. for a motor vehicle crash involving at least two vehicles in the area of Route 111 and Fellows Road.

Once on scene, Windham crews found two vehicles with heavy damage in the eastbound lane of Route 111, just west of Fellows Road. One was facing east, the other was facing west.

There were two people with injuries, one of whom was trapped in her mid-size SUV, fire officials said.
