A man in Bridgeport has died after being involved in a car crash on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Upon arrival, responders located the crash along Broad Street and Elm Street where the driver, identified as Robert Knuckles, was unresponsive, Bridgeport Emergency Management said.

The 71-year-old operator of a 2020 black Acura Lexus RLX was traveling north on Broad Street when he struck a concrete post on the sidewalk, authorities said.

Bridgeport Emergency Services said that after being taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Knuckles later died at St. Vincent's Medical Center.
