A man and woman have been arrested and charged following a disturbance which sparked an armed response on a Glasgow street.

Multiple police units raced to Ballantay Road in Castlemilk at around 1.40pm on Friday.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and a 53-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment .

Eyewitnesses told how around half a dozen police vehicles descended on the street.

Pictures from the scene show uniformed officers and specialist gun cops responding to the incident as the area was sealed off.

Armed officers were spotted in surrounding gardens.

Other images show police tape stretched across the residential street as horrified locals watched on.
