If you are going to be visiting the Sudbury Courthouse anytime soon, plan on arriving a little earlier than usual.

That’s because a new security measure – the metal wanding of visitors – is now in effect at the new, temporary front entrance on Elm Street.

Upon entry, visitors are asked to empty their pockets, and a court security officer checks for metal items using a handheld device.

The screening process only takes a few minutes, but when first introduced, the wait outside the courthouse was taking five minutes as a lineup slowly built up before the 10 a.m. traditional court day start.

Brass knuckles – a prohibited weapon – were apparently found in one person’s possession during the morning checks.
