TROUP, Texas — A Rusk football player is expected to make a full recovery after suffering from a severe injury during a game against Troup High School on Friday, his family says.

The game between Rusk High School and Troup High School came to a halt when Rusk junior Aiden Adams (#12) was injured during the second half of the matchup at Troup Tiger Stadium .

Play stopped as coaches, players, and cheerleaders from both Rusk ISD and Troup ISD gathered in the sidelines, kneeling and joining hands in prayer for Adams. Spectators in the stands bowed their heads, creating a powerful scene of unity under the lights.

An ambulance arrived to provide medical attention before play resumed. He was escorted off the field.
