The Pittsburgh Steelers have placed offensive guard Max Scharping on injured reserve, the team announced on Saturday.
Scharping suffered a torn ACL during Wednesday’s practice, according to a report by NFL Network.
Scharping has not played in any games this season, The Steelers have 10 offensive linemen rostered, and Scharping is one of their gameday inactives.
Scharping joined the Steelers in October 2024 after injuries racked up along the offensive line. The big appeal for his depth status is that he can play anywhere for the Steelers, making him a valuable piece.
When they signed Scharping, he was on the Washington Commanders’ practice squad. Scharping spent much of the season as the ninth offensive lineman and the first team inactive.
