Police shot and injured an armed suspect in a Portland gas station after he opened fire on officers while they tried to apprehend him, police say.

Nobody else was injured during the shooting, which happened around 9:15 a.m. at a Shell gas station at Southeast 122nd Avenue and Division Street, the Portland Police Bureau said in a statement.

The suspect — who police did not publicly identify — is in police custody and is expected to survive his injuries.

Investigators closed down several blocks in the area of Southeast 122nd and Division as they investigated the shooting, and police spokesperson Mike Benner said that it’s not clear when it will be reopened.
