SIOUX FALLS — No. 16 Minnesota Duluth earned its first win at Bob Young Field on Saturday with a convincing 34-17 victory over 25th-ranked Sioux Falls.
The Bulldogs entered the contest with an 0-4 road record against the Cougars dating back to 2013.
UMD’s defense set the tone early by forcing a quick three-and-out on the Cougars’ opening possession, setting up the offense with a short field at the 48-yard line.
After a 42-yard connection from quarterback Kyle Walljasper to tight end Luke Dehnicke brought the ball down to the USF 10, the Bulldogs punched it in two plays later with a 3-yard rush up the middle by Walljasper to take a 7-0 lead after the extra point.
