MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - On this day in history, the family of the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley, moved to their Lauderdale Courts home in Memphis.
On Sept. 20, 1949, his family moved into a two-bedroom apartment there, paying just $35 a month.
It was the longest the Presleys ever stayed in one place before their beloved Graceland—and it’s where Elvis made lifelong friends and even played music around the complex.
