The Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball team won its home opener 3-1 (25-20, 19-25, 25-21, 35-33) over Mercyhurst on Friday.
Becky Barrett and Haiden Means had mirroring double-doubles, with Barrett notching 18 digs and 10 assists while Means turned in 47 assists and 16 digs. Trinity Rye finished with 16 kills, the most in her young career. Riley Rosneck had a match-high 19 kills with six in the third and five in the fourth.
The Mastodons moved to 2-7 with the win and Mercyhurst fell to 2-10 with the loss.
Purdue Fort Wayne will play Bellarmine at 11 a.m. and Toledo at 7 p.m. on Saturday for the last day of the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational.
