The site of a planned new animal shelter for the Sarnia and District Humane Society appears to be moving again, but exactly where has not been specified.

Humane society board spokesperson Bob Farlow said officials with the animal welfare charity are currentlly in the midst of negotiations.

Officials, though, appear to be moving on from earlier plans to locate the new shelter at the corner of Modeland Road and Wellington Street .

The humane society, initially considering plans to build new beside the existing shelter in Centennial Park , purchased a larger land parcel — about two hectares — at 1615 Wellington St. in 2023 for about $700,000.
