Mets' Juan Soto joins Barry Bonds as 2nd player in MLB history with these season stats
Not bad for a "down year."
There's been a suggestion all season long that this isn't the usual Juan Soto in his first year with the New York Mets .
Except maybe it's time to look again.
His numbers are absurd, so much so that he just joined Barry Bonds in MLB history.
Before Saturday, Bonds was the only player to ever have at least 40 homers, 35 steals and 110 walks in a season. He did it twice, in both 1996 and 1997.
Soto is now in that club, with MLB Network's Sarah Langs sharing the connection on X .
The steals are the remarkable part, and the stat that got Soto into the club by swiping a bag on Saturday.
Before this season, Soto's single-season best for steals was
