HAMPTON, Va. — A suspect has been arrested after a deadly stabbing in Hampton on Saturday, which became the city’s second fatal stabbing in less than 24 hours.

Saturday’s stabbing took place about 6:03 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Hampton Police Division. Officers responded to the first block of Westbriar Drive and found a victim suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Medics provided treatment and took the man to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police say the preliminary investigation has shown the victim and suspect know each other and that a dispute escalated into a physical altercation, which ended with the suspect stabbing the victim multiple times with a knife.

The suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.
