SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio man is sharing his harrowing story of survival after a terrifying accident in his driveway earlier this week.

Edward Garcia was working on his SUV just before noon on Monday when the jack holding up the vehicle suddenly gave out, causing the SUV to collapse onto him.

“Out of nowhere, the jack slipped and my truck came down and landed on my head,” Garcia said. “The rotors hit my head. The sidestep landed on my ribs.”

Alone at the time, Garcia said he feared the worst.

“At one point I thought I wasn’t going to make it,” he said. “All I kept thinking about was my kids and my wife.”

Fortunately, a neighbor heard his cries for help and rushed over.

Garcia was left with bruised ribs, several scratches, and a head injury that required five staples.
