With little time left, Mountain Lakes could have attempted a game-tying field goal to send the game into overtime. However, it decided to go for the win, and with 15 seconds remaining, Massimo Corvelli’s two-yard run secured a 28-24 victory in Stanhope.
Mountain Lakes (2-2) took a 24-14 lead in the fourth quarter with a 22-yard field goal from Nathan Coleman. Mountain Lakes cut it to a three-point game with an eight-yard run from Billy Barrett.
Lenape Valley took a 14-7 lead at halftime before Mountain Lakes tied things up in the third quarter.
