COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Richland County coroner Naida Rutherford has released the identity of the victim who died as a result of a shooting at a local hotel last week.
Rutherford says 30-year-old Zakiyah Ali of Columbia died Tuesday, two days after the shooting.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD) arrested 33-year-old Jerry Williams on Sunday and charged him with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
RCSD said Williams’ charges stemmed from an incident where deputies were called to 8310 Two Notch Road at around 6 p.m. Sunday. An online search matches the address to an InTown Suites location.
The sheriff’s department said deputies discovered Ali at the scene with a gunshot wound to the upper body. EMS later arrived and took her to a hospital.
