MIAMI GARDENS ∸ Florida football coach Billy Napier faced a critical decision to start the fourth quarter against rival Miami.

On a fourth-and-4 play on Miami's 34-yard line, Napier could have sent out senior kicker Trey Smack for a 51-yard field goal attempt. The Florida Gators trailed 13-7 at the time, and a field goal would have cut Miami's lead to 13-10.

Instead, Napier chose to go for it.

"Analytically, it was a go," Napier said postgame. "If you think about it, it was a touchdown game at this point. Even if you get the three, it was still a touchdown game. I think we had it on the short field."
