Martin Lewis has cautioned that it's "possible" the State Pension could be abolished in favour of means testing.

This comes amid concerns over the future of the triple lock, with the founder of Money Saving Expert (MSE) recently discussing the upcoming 4.7 per cent rise in the State Pension next year.

During his self-titled podcast, when asked by a 53 year old caller named John if the state pension could be scrapped, he responded: "Yes, it is possible."

Martin further explained: "Parliament is what is called omnicompetent - a technical term meaning parliament can legislate anything it chooses to do. Do I think it's likely? No.

"I think the most likely eventuality with the state pension is that the age at which you get it is increased. And I certainly think by the time someone who is 18
