NORTH IDAHO – Firefighters in the Idaho Panhandle are gearing up for a series of prescribed burns this fall, aiming to reduce overgrown vegetation and protect the area from uncontrolled wildfires.

Crews plan to begin the burns in the coming weeks, pending final approvals. The burns will continue throughout the season as long as weather conditions remain favorable.

Firefighters emphasized the importance of these prescribed fires as a critical tool for protecting nearby communities, infrastructure and natural resources.

Residents interested in staying informed about the prescribed burns can do so through the ‘ North Idaho Prescribed Fire Storymap ,’ the U.S. Forest Service’s official website and their social media channels.
