Will Sunday be the day Tropical Storm Gabrielle becomes Hurricane Gabrielle in the Atlantic? The National Hurricane Center predicts sustained winds with strengthen to hurricane force at some point possible the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 21.

Gabrielle is expected to become a hurricane as it passes east of Bermuda, and could strengthen into a Category 2 storm with 100-mph sustained winds within the next 12 hours. It had become slightly better organized overnight.

While there were no watches or warnings in effect Sunday morning, forecasters warned residents in Bermuda should monitor Gabrielle's progress.
