NORMAN, Okla. — Jackson Arnold 's return trip to play his former program didn't get a positive result, as Auburn football fell 24-17 to No. 12 Oklahoma on Saturday, Sept. 20.
Arnold's final line was far from miserable, but that didn't mean his day wasn't. It was a struggle to find success against the Sooners ' defense, as Arnold was sacked 10 times — which now stands a single-game Oklahoma record — and his offensive line was whistled for eight penalties.
"That was tough sledding," Hugh Freeze said postgame. "We'll have to watch the film to see some of the early sacks. Could he (Arnold) have gotten it out? I don't know. I mean, those late ones, that's a hard ask. Thirty-two (R Mason Thomas) is going to do that to a lot of teams in a two-minute drill."
