Bulldog Brewery has poured its final pint after being a mainstay of downtown Whiting for more than a decade.
The steelworker Kevin Clark and his wife Tracey started homebrewing before opening the microbrewery and brewpub, where people could watch the brewing inside the taproom on 119th Street, in 2012. It poured more than 30 different beers, including its Industrial Porter, Downtime Wheat and the Standard Diamonds Ale that used to be served at NWI Oilmen games. Many of its beer names paid homage to industry, Region landmarks like Cline Avenue or local history like its Roby Red Ale.
In 2018, it expanded to Bulldog on the Lake in Marina Shores, overlooking the 250-slip marina in Portage, but the second outpost closed after a few years.
