MICHIGAN STATE linebacker Wayne Matthews III was left motionless after a horrific collision in the game against USC.

Matthews tried to tackle the Trojans' Waymond Jordan in the second quarter when the frightening incident took place.

Medical staff from Spartans loaded the 23-year-old onto a stretcher and then a cart that took him to a waiting ambulance off the field.

According to the Detroit Free Press , MSU staff cut his jersey off before he was placed on a backboard and loaded into the ambulance.

Matthews was rushed to LA General Hospital - a Level 1 trauma center - the highest for these types of injuries - according to Fox's sideline reporter, Alexa Landestoy.

He did give a thumbs-up to the crowd while he was strapped to the backboard.
