BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) — A man is dead and another person was seriously injured following a boat crash Saturday night on South Holston Lake in Sullivan County.

A release from the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) said the crash took place Saturday at approximately 9:45 p.m. According to the release, a bass boat carrying two people struck a pillar that holds up the Highway 421 bridge.

The release said the operator of the vessel sustained serious injuries, and a passenger, Ronald E. Taylor, 72, of Virginia, was pronounced dead at the scene. The TWRA said Taylor's body will be sent to a medical examiner's office for autopsy.
