SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - The Shasta County Sheriff's Office says they will be conducting a DUI and driver's license checkpoint on Saturday starting at 6 p.m. at an undisclosed location.

According to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, the checkpoint location are selected based on historical data of DUI crashes, arrests, and traffic patterns.

Authorities say the main goal is to enhance public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the roads.

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office would like to remind the public that impairment is not limited to alcohol. Prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications can also impact driving abilities and result to a DUI charge.
