A New York middle school student has been arrested on felony charges in connection with a sextortion investigation that authorities believe could involve hundreds of victims, officials announced Wednesday.

Stony Point Police said at least six children have come forward since the investigation began in February, according to the Daily News , but investigators suspect there could be dozens or “several hundred additional victims” who have not yet reported incidents.

According to the outlet, the suspect, who is under 16 years old and has not been publicly identified, faces three felony charges: use of a child in a sexual performance, promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child, the report said.
