Gunfire near Katy baseball fields injures coach during game, officials say

KATY, Texas – A coach was injured Sunday after gunfire erupted near the area, according to a social media post by The Rac Baseball Katy.

The RAC, which is a baseball park and community hub for young athletes, according to its website, is where the shooting took place.

The Rac released a statement on Facebook saying the coach was shot in the shoulder by recreational gunfire during a game Sunday morning.

The coach has since been transported to the hospital.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family as he receives treatment for his injuries,” TheRac said in a social media post.

The Rac said it is pausing any future practices or games at its facility “until law enforcement and our internal investigation has been completed to ensure the safety of all that visit the facility.”
