English singer-songwriter Morrissey has canceled his upcoming weekend performances due to what has been described as a “credible threat” on his life, Rolling Stone reports.
The former Smiths frontman was scheduled to perform at Foxwoods on Friday and Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway on Saturday.
According to a statement posted on Morrissey’s official Instagram page, “In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and audience, tonight’s engagement at Foxwoods has been canceled.”
The MGM Music Hall at Fenway also confirmed the cancellation of tomorrow’s show through their Instagram account , citing similar safety concerns for “both the artist and band.”
This development comes just weeks after
