TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – On Sunday, Taos County Sheriff's Office deputies reported the closure of pedestrian traffic on the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge due to a suicide. They say the victim was a 15-year-old Taos boy.
Deputies say this is the third time in as many weeks they have been called to recover the remains of somebody who has jumped from the bridge. According to a press release, this is the sixth incident like this at the bridge in 2025.
NMDOT Cabinet Secretary Rick Serna has committed to closing the pedestrian traffic on the bridge starting Sunday until a "viable resolution can be found." The investigation is ongoing. News 13 will provide updates as they become available.
