NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Tropical Storm Gabrielle continues to strengthen with the expectation of it becoming a hurricane before the end of Sunday.

Gabrielle is 390-miles southeast of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 65-mph and tropical-storm-force winds extending outward up to 140-miles from the center as it travels in a northwestward motion at 12-mph.

It is forecasted to continue traveling in this motion through Sunday night then turning towards the north on Monday followed by a faster northeastward or east-northeastward motion come Tuesday.

The National Hurricane Center forecasts that this storm's center will pass east of Bermuda on Monday.

The NHC says that "Gabrielle is expected to become a hurricane later today, and rapid intensification is possible over the next day or so."
