NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Gabrielle upgraded to a category 1 hurricane on Sunday as it continues to travel across the Atlantic.

Hurricane Gabrielle is 320-miles southeast of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 75-mph as it moves in a north-northwestward motion at 10-mph.

Its hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25-miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175-miles.

The National Hurricane Center says that "additional steady to rapid intensification is forecast over the next day or so, and Gabrielle could become a major hurricane in the early part of this week."

In terms of Gabrielle's track, the NHC expects the hurricane to "turn more northward on Monday, followed by a somewhat faster northeastward or east-northeastward motion on Tuesday."
