Sunday marked a birthday celebration one Harrison Township man is bound to remember.
A party of about 45 people was gathering in the vestibule of Golden Corral restaurant on Hayes near Hall Road in Clinton Township for the birthday bash to begin when a car smashed into the building.
Witnesses said it appeared the vehicle was in reverse when it slammed into the structure.
“It was like a big boom and everyone came over to help the customers that was injured,” said a woman who identified herself as Tammy J. of Harrison Township.
Authorities said a woman had sent her 14-year-old son to the parking lot to start the car. As the youngster was hopping over from the driver’s to the passenger’s seat, he “must have accidentally hit the shifter” sending the car lurching into the building.
