FOXBOROUGH - Mike Vrabel gave the green light to go on fourth down fives times in Sunday’s 21-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

All seemed logical by most metrics, save one.

Down 14-7 in the second quarter, the Patriots faced a 4th-and-1 from their 15-yard line.

That might seem like an automatic punt. Not to Vrabel. He went for it.

The Patriots converted with Rhamondre Stevenson rumbling around left end to gain 10 yards.

Vrabel wouldn’t have heard the end of it had the Patriots not moved the sticks. What was his rationale?
