CLAY COUNTY, Ind. — A stabbing victim in western Indiana was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital early Saturday morning.

According to the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department , shortly before 2 a.m. on Sept. 20, first responders were called to a residence in Clay County on a report of a possible stabbing.

When first responders arrived, they found one person with "multiple" stab wounds. Officials say due to the severity and location of the wounds, the Lifeline Air Ambulance was called in to assist.

After landing behind North Clay Middle School, the victim was successfully transferred to the Air Ambulance and flown to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Officials say the victim's current condition is unknown.
