NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - An early morning shooting on Monday left a man in critical condition, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The man was shot in the upper leg on 16th Avenue North in Nashville, near the Boys and Girls Club of Middle Tennessee and just a few blocks from Fisk University.

Police said the man was found in an alley with a gunshot wound to the upper leg around 1:30 a.m.

There are no known witnesses, officers said.

Investigators were working to determine a motive and put together a description on the suspect.
