STREETSBORO, Ohio (WJW) – A late school closure notice was issued Monday morning for a lot of local parents.

Streetsboro City Schools announced around 7 a.m. that all schools would be closed for the day “due to police activity in the area.”

The district said the decision is “out of an abundance of caution.”

The FOX 8 I-Team reported a man who appeared to be carrying a long gun was seen Monday morning around 6 a.m. walking on State Route 303 near Kirby Lane.

He was spotted by a City of Streetsboro employee, police said in a press release.

Patrol officers did not find anyone in the area.

However, the bus garage on Annalane Drive was closed, and that’s when the decision was made to cancel school Monday.
