BROOK PARK, Ohio (WJW) -- Police in a Cuyahoga County community are once again planning a sobriety checkpoint.

The Brook Park Police Department issued a media release advising the public that the OVI checkpoint will take place the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 23.

"Based on provisional data, from January 1st to September 14th 2025, there have been 276 alcohol-related crashes in Cuyahoga County, in which eleven people tragically lost their lives," stated the release.

The checkpoint is funded by federal grant money. The location of the checkpoint will be announced on Tuesday morning, said officials.

In 1990, the Supreme Court upheld the use of sobriety checkpoints as long as they meet certain guidelines, which includes public notification.
