MACON, Ga. — A handful of people gathered Sunday at Safe Harbor Church in Macon to honor the life of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot during a speaking event in Utah earlier this month.

The memorial was part of nationwide remembrances held the same day as a massive service at State Farm Stadium in Arizona.

Attendees in Macon reflected on what they call Kirk’s role in mobilizing youth, promoting free speech, and encouraging civil discourse.

“Well, I'm not a woman of faith, but I've been following Charlie Kirk from the beginning,” Nicole Foley, a Macon resident who attended the gathering, said. “I'm out here because I believe in his mission. I've been starting to look at myself deeply more because of him and his message about God.”
