LOS ANGELES – A woman is in police custody Monday after a pursuit by Los Angeles Police Department officers that began on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway and ended when the suspects crashed into an LAPD patrol car in Mid-City.

LAPD officers from the Newton Division responded around 2:37 a.m. Monday to reports of a stolen vehicle near downtown Los Angeles.

Police pursued the stolen car onto the westbound freeway, according to LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman.

The pursuit ended when the suspect’s vehicle exited the freeway and collided head-on with an LAPD unit at the intersection of La Brea Avenue and Washington Boulevard.
