HURRICANE GABRIELLE:
Gabrielle has intensified into a major hurricane, the second of the season. As of Monday morning, Gabrielle is moving north at 10 mph with maximum sustained winds near 120 mph. The storm has a well-defined eye and is expected to remain a strong hurricane over the next couple of days. Advertisement
Forecast models keep Gabrielle tracking east of Bermuda before curving to the north and northeast later this week over the open Atlantic.
IMPACTS TO LOUISIANA:
Bermuda: Gusty winds and heavy showers possible today as Gabrielle passes by to the east
U.S. East Coast & Atlantic Canada: Large swells will spread northward over the next few days, creating life-threatening surf and rip currents along beaches from North Carolina up to Canada
Louisiana: No impacts expected
